TIMBER
FLOORING, CLADDING & DECKING
To calculate how many linear metres are required to cover an area
of flooring, wall or decking, divide by the width which each board
covers.
For example:
If you are using 22x 150 mm (6 in) 'nominal' square edge flooring,
(which covers approximately 145 mm) and need to cover 45 m2, you
need 45/145 x 1000 m2 => 310 m2.
or
If you use 22x150 tongue & groove flooring instead (which covers
approximately 138 mm), you need 45/138 x 1000 => 326 m2

BUILDING MATERIALS
How much do I need?…..
Building Blocks
The standard size of concrete building
blocks (both solid & aerated) from Thermalite and Tarmac is
440 x 215 mm (length x height) and therefore you will need 10
blocks per square metre of finished wall.
(Note that Celcon also manufacture blocks of the same
size, but NOT Durox.)
Bricks
The standard size of bricks is 215 x 102 x 65 mm (length
x width x height) and therefore you will need 60 bricks per square
metre of finished wall.
Aggregates (Sand, Ballast etc.)
1 tonne of aggregate is approximately equal to 0.6 cubic
metres.
Approximately 1 tonne of soft sand is required to lay 1000
bricks.
